Gas Safe Standards & Consumer Protection

Under UK law, all gas work must be completed by registered professionals. Learn how our vetted installer verification protocol protects homeowners across Glasgow.

Our Installer Vetting Standard

The Online Boiler Company operates as a direct wholesale heating equipment supplier. We pair equipment supply with a network of vetted independent heating engineers. Before any engineer is approved to install on behalf of our customers, they must satisfy our 6-point verification protocol:

1. Active Gas Safe Registration

Continuous verification of individual and business registration on the official Gas Safe Register portal.

2. £2,000,000+ Liability Insurance

Mandatory public liability insurance policy verification on file, renewed annually.

3. Calibrated Flue Gas Analyzers

Valid annual calibration certification for electronic flue gas combustion testing tools.

4. Building Regulations Notification

Every installation is formally notified to local authorities, generating an official Building Regulations Compliance Certificate.

5. Benchmark Commissioning Checklist

Full completion of the boiler manufacturer Benchmark Commissioning Log Book on the day of installation.

6. Manufacturer Warranty Activation

Direct registration of extended manufacturer warranties (up to 12 years) with Worcester Bosch, Ideal, or Navien.

Verifying Your Engineer on Installation Day

Every Gas Safe registered engineer carries an official photo ID card. When your installer arrives at your Glasgow home, you should expect to see:

  • The engineer's photo and legal name.
  • The Gas Safe Register logo with security hologram.
  • The license number and expiry date on the front of the card.
  • The categories of gas work they are qualified to perform on the back of the card (e.g. Domestic Natural Gas Boilers, Pipework, Flues).
